Starcraft II

I have decided I want to be the first foreign female to play in the GSL… Or perhaps to win the competition.

Now realistically I know this isn’t going to happen. It’s nice to dream though.

If, hypothetically, I did somehow make it to the GSL tournament, and had some semblance of skill, I would intentionally lose to one of the e-gamers I have watched over the years… including, but not limited to: MVP, Fruitdealer, Boxer, Marine King etc.

I’d be like “oh I know you, here’s a free game. No don’t worry about me, I’m happy to just chill in Seoul and watch you guys play. I don’t need to win to complete the challenge I dictated to myself all those years ago.”

I’m no good at gaming really. Super Mario, no problems. Crash bandicoot, cool. GTA, I can but I find it a little boring. Anything that requires a keyboard & mouse working together in harmony - it’s not happening.

I’ve tried. I’m sure if I practised more it wouldn’t be a problem. However, while the motivation is there, I just don’t have enough time to sit & play hours of a video game.

I get my nerdy, gaming fix from youtube. Watching people play it for me. Which I think is worse than devoting your time to a video game - at least at the end of playing you can be like “YES! I did it” and have a feeling of accomplishment. Me… I don’t get that with videos haha.

If I’m 100% honest, the only reason I want to win the GSL is to kiss the trophy like they all do (I assume they have to or is some cultural thing ???). It’s my favourite part… so it only makes sense that I’d enjoy it when my time comes.

Learning a Language

Since I’m heading overseas in the next few months.. I’d say it’s definitely time for me to get serious about learning another language.

I seem to know a little bit of a few different languages… but I’m ready to get serious & get as many under my belt as possible. It’s the only way I’m going to become a translator/linguist. I already know a bit of Japanese from University and remember a bit of French from high school.

I haven’t decided on a single language to learn at the moment. Though I have been looking more & more into Swedish as that’s where I’m planning on spending most of my time overseas - so it makes sense to learn that first.

I’ll have to remember to update this fairly frequently with the things I learn.

Lexie’s brother - Elliott - is some kind of eccentric genius. There’s nothing wrong with him. He just enjoys making people laugh/smile/think… some of his decisions through life (that I’ve heard about) may not be in his best interests & some people enjoyed screwing with him through high school but he is a nice guy.

He is really great at art - well, he’s good at most things he puts his mind to - but for the purpose of this post I will just focus on his art.

I own the first piece of art he sold, and while his style has changed a little from back then (about 8yrs ago) it is still amazing what he does.

I have asked him to do a picture for me - of the Wuthering Heights variety as I’m currently obsessed with that damn song & while I will probably never read the book I have at least read the cliffnotes/synopsis of it.

I am hoping that I can get him to do a few pieces for me. Perhaps even a few from my book. That’d be cool. I am more than happy to pay for his work - especially since some of his pieces have taken him 40hrs to complete.

I don’t know whether he will send me progress photos so I can see how it’s coming along - I don’t know whether I even want him to offer me that option.. I think I want to be surprised at the end.

Believe me though, I will be putting it up here & all over the internet for people to see & hopefully get his name out there.

London UK moving countdown months days weeks anxious visa

4 Months

That’s right. 4 months today until I am living in another country, practically homeless & jobless. (Visa pending obviously).

Only 16wks until I take up what could possibly be the biggest challenge of my life.

112 days until my best friend and I have no choice but to live with each other & put up with each other’s crap for better or worse…

2688hrs (approx.) until I say goodbye to the sunshine and mild weather and say hello to rainy days and the possibility of snow.

I am a little anxious now.. but I have my one-way ticket and it’s only going to get worse before it can get better.
